The central library is an absolute mine of information, which offers progressive as well as traditional learning resources. It's main objective is to support the teaching, learning and research activities by maximizing access to required information. In order to fulfill the objective library has developed comprehensive collection of about 28000 documents, which includes books, journals, reports, technical and general magazines etc. Apart from curriculum related documents, special attention is also given on building collection on personality development, placement, soft skills and interview facing skills etc. Prominence is also given on collection of digital resources and provided digital library facilities, which is a hub for creative minds. Where archived digital resources, e-journals and e-books from leading publishers like IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA), Springer Inc (New York, USA) etc. can be accessed. The library has a reference section with a huge collection of reference books, about 100 students can make use of it at a time. Students can make best use of their free time in the reference section, which will be kept open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
The CIT Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of Text books, rare books, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, atlas, & competitive exam books and general knowledge books like GRE, GATE, GMAT, CAT, IAS CRS, yearbook etc. Print national and international journals, general and technical magazines and newsletter are also available for reference. They are arranged alphabetically and department wise. The latest issues are displayed on display rack and other previous issues are arranged in the drawer. Bound volumes of periodicals are arranged in rack alphabetically and are meat only for reference with in the library. Print copy of previous years VTU examination question papers and project works by seniors are achieved in this section. Reference Section will be open Morning 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and during the examination period the reference section will be open up to 7.00pm
In this section we have about 20000 books which include textbooks, placement related books,
general reading books etc. which can be borrowed. Each student can borrow 4 books at a time for the period of 15 days.
Open access system is followed in this library. Library is automated with barcoding.
To check the availability of the book user can make use of online catalogue called Open access Catalogue.
Book bank First and second year students can become a member of the book bank scheme free of cost. 2 textbooks for 1st years and 1 text book for 2nd year will be issued under this scheme. Book shall be returned within two days after the theory examination, otherwise a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged.
SC/ST Book bank Students who belong to scheduled cast and scheduled tribe can become a member of the SC/ST book bank free of cost. They can borrow 3 textbooks for each semester under this scheme. Book shall be returned within two days after the theory examination, otherwise a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged.
Digital infrastructure in provided to access subscribed and open access e-journals, e-books, NPTEL lecture notes and DSPACE – CIT digital library from where users can access previous years question papers, syllabus copy, e-books, faculty publication etc. Click Here
In this section 2 sets of 10 national and regional newspapers are displayed in the news papers stand. Previous days papers are kept in the reference section for reading.
Springer Link provides access to millions of scientific documents from journals, books, series, protocols and reference works. We have full text access to more than 680 e-journals and more than 5000 e-books.

The IEEE Digital Library provides more than 3 million articles published from The Institution of Engineering and Technology, England & Wales. It provides full text articles from 200 Journals & magazines, 1400+ conference proceedings and over 2800 standards. Full text article can be accessed and downloaded from anywhere within the campus
