The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized five-days Add-on Course on “Amazon Web Services” from 25th April 2023 to 29th April 2023. The programme was organized for the pre-final year students. The inaugural ceremony was conducted in the 3rd floor seminar hall. The resource persons of the event was Mr. Kotresh M, Director, Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru and Mr. Swaroop Rajagopal, Software Engineer, Indian Tech-Keys, Bengaluru. Mr. Kotresh M, was the chief guest of the event and Honorable Secretary of Kodava Education Society, Sri C P Rakesh Poovaiah was the Guest of Honour. Students of 6th semester Ms. Drushya Dechakka welcomed the gathering, Ms. Vivina Muthamma introduced the resource person, Mr. Rohan Ponnanna delivered vote of thanks, Ms. Payal Thangamma was the Master of Ceremony. Dr. M Basavaraj, Principal and Prof. Daina K K, the Head of the Department and teaching and non-teaching staff were present in the inauguration function.
DAY 1
Morning Session 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The Add on Course began with an introduction to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its various services after the inaugural function. The session covered the basics of AWS, its history, and its significance in today’s technology-driven world. The session also included an overview of AWS’s core services, including EC2, S3, and RDS.
Afternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM
In the afternoon session, the focus was on setting up AWS accounts and creating instances. The session covered the basics of setting up AWS accounts, creating instances, and configuring them to meet specific requirements. Participants were also introduced to various AWS tools, including AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), and AWS Software Development Kit (SDK).
DAY 2
Morning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The morning session of day 2 focused on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). Participants learned about the benefits of using EC2 and S3, their features, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of EC2 instances and their use cases.
Afternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM
The afternoon session focused on Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) and Amazon DynamoDB. The session covered the benefits of using RDS and DynamoDB, their features, and how to set them up. Participants learned about the different types of databases available and their use cases.
DAY 3
Morning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The morning session of day 3 focused on Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). Participants learned about VPC and its features, including security groups and network access control lists (ACLs). The session also covered IAM, including how to create users, groups, and policies.
Afternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM
The afternoon session focused on Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53. Participants learned about the benefits of using CloudFront and Route 53, their features, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of distributions available for CloudFront.
DAY 4
Morning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The morning session of day 4 focused on AWS Lambda and AWS Elastic Beanstalk. Participants learned about the benefits of using Lambda and Elastic Beanstalk, their features, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of Lambda functions and the different types of Elastic Beanstalk environments.
Afternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM
The afternoon session focused on creating and launching Instance. To create new key pair.
The students got the thorough knowledge in creating an instance and launching it and to host web app in AWS Server.
DAY 5
Morning Session 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The morning session of day 5 focused on AWS CloudTrail and AWS CloudWatch. Participants learned about the benefits of using CloudTrail and CloudWatch, their features, and how to set them up. The session also covered the different types of logs available for CloudTrail and the different types of metrics available for CloudWatch.
Afternoon Session 2:00PM to 4:00PM The final session of the Add on Course was a hands-on lab session. They were given a series of tasks to complete using AWS services, and they had to apply what they learned to complete the tasks successfully.
