The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a guest talk on “Operating System” for the third semester students on 8^th February 2024. Dr. Prasanth M V and Dr. Prema, Associate Professors, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, VVCE Mysuru were the resource persons of the event. A total of 65 students attended the session. The resource persons initiated the talk with an overview and various types of operating systems, evolution, and significance of operating systems in modern computing. The speakers elaborated on the core components of operating systems and also the challenges faced by modern operating systems, including security threats and scalability issues. Following the presentation, the students actively engaged in a question-and-answer session with the resource persons. Topics ranged from real-time operating systems (RTOS) to the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on operating system design. The interactive session provided students with valuable insights and clarification on various aspects of operating systems.
